10 Apples Up On Top

10 Apples Up On Top

This morning has been busy! While we were outside we took a break from playing to collect dried green beans from the garden. We’ll store them so we can plant them next year. It was a great activity for working on some fine motor skills as we had to peel the shells and pinch the tiny beans to put them in our container. For story time we read “Ten Apples Up on Top”. This will be the third time we…

Chicka Chicka 123

Chicka Chicka 123

This morning after a nice long session of outside play we read “Chicka Chicka 123”. Then the older kiddos practiced using scissors and glue to make their own number trees. The little ones had some sensory fun with our alphabet squish bag, and then we all enjoyed some creative time with play dough.

The Racecar Alphabet

The Racecar Alphabet

Late post! I’m keeping with our ABC/123 theme this week, yesterday we read “The Racecar Alphabet”. We then held an alphabet derby (car letter E was our champion), and practiced matching upper and lower case letters with a car lot file folder game.

Hello, Summer!

Hello, Summer!

The last year has been a transformative time of growth for my child care program. I began to implement a curriculum and more structured day, and I think it’s been great not only for the kids but for me. It’s been a process of trial and error, and I have started to really develop a vision for how I want to further improve. Planning our activities takes a lot of time and energy and since we will surely have days…

Happy Mother’s Day 2021

Happy Mother’s Day 2021

My first year in child care a super sweet parent gave me a large print of the poem “Daycare Provider”. You know this one… it begins with “although I’m not their mother”. I keep it still because it’s a reminder of the expectation and standard that I aspire to. But the truth is… no child care provider, no matter how loving, can possibly compare to Mother. Sometimes especially as moms it’s so hard to drop your child off at daycare,…
