FAQs

FAQs

How many children do you care for?

I usually try to keep my enrollments to 6-7 children. The total number depends on the age of the children. You can view current licensing capacities here: https://www.kdhe.ks.gov/DocumentCenter/View/41825/FCCH-Capacity-Visual-PDF

Do you participate in the food program?

Yes! In addition, I limit the number of processed foods offered, offer organic whenever possible, and I make as much as I can from scratch.

Do you potty train?

I support potty training efforts at home. When you feel your child is ready to begin potty training, I do my best to encourage them to use the potty here. Once we are able to go one week with no accidents, they can wear underwear to day care instead of pull ups.

Do you take PTO and do we get vacation?

The holidays listed below are included in my paid time off. Should any of these holidays fall on a Saturday or Sunday I will substitute the Friday before or Monday after in its stead as my paid holiday.

New Years’ Day
Memorial Day
Independence Day
Labor Day
Thanksgiving Day and the day after
Christmas Day

I may take up to two weeks paid vacation per year. Payment will be due for these planned closures, and in exchange I allow each family ten days tuition free per year. (Note: this excludes the final two weeks in care, which are covered by the enrollment deposit).
In the rare event that SCHD must close due to an illness in our home I will advise via text message as soon as possible. I encourage all clients to have a plan in place for back-up care should I need to close on short notice. No payment will be due for these unplanned days off, unless in the case of a KDHE mandated closure, in which normal payment will be due.

What do we need in order to enroll?

After we interview and you’ve had a chance to read through my contract and ask any other questions you might have, I require the signed contract and an enrollment deposit of two weeks’ tuition. This deposit is non refundable and will later be applied to the final two weeks of our agreement. This allows me to hold a spot until your child is ready to begin attending, and makes it easier for you to transition to preschool when your child is ready.

How do we pay you?

I accept cash, check, Venmo or payments through Brightwheel. Tuition is due every Monday at drop off for the current week, however I do have some clients who choose to pay bi-weekly as opposed to weekly.
